Good evening all....
Not sure why but I'm in a strangely optimistic mood tonight... I've read a lot of Arsenal blogs full of doom and gloom and moaning about everything under the sun but I'm still looking forward to this season... The first game wasn't the disaster some people are making out, we played out an even game with Liverpool away even we were without a lot of first team players, and it looks like some players are ready to come back. Fabregas, Van Persie, Song, Djourou and Denilson could all be in the squad for Saturday.
There have also been strong rumours today of an Arsenal bid for Squillaci, the 30 year old French centre back from Sevilla. Everyone knows we need another centre-back, and he seems to fit the bill (not to mention he looks pretty tough!) He has experience in Europe and on the international scene and could provide good competition for Koscielny and Djourou for the spot alongside Vermaelen. Also there are stories coming out that we made a second bid for Schwarzer, and I get the sense this transfer will be wrapped up sooner rather than later.
The other news is that the club have re-named the stands and are planning an opening celebration before the game against Blackpool on Saturday. It will be great to see the crowd reaction and hear the return of the north bank / clock end songs. And also the entrance song has been changed, finally the least inspiring song in football has been given the boot and will be replaced with Fatboy Silm's "Right here, right now". Much better for building up a bit of adrenaline for the start of the game.
Finally commiserations to Nasri and the Frimpster who have picked up injuries and will be out for around a month and 6 months respectively. Lets hope to see them back in action asap...
Bring on Blackpool on Saturday!!!
