Drogba had a excellent performance again. He didn’t get the hat trick of hat tricks but did get a hat trick of assists. Overall the team played very well. In a game where Wigan had the majority of the possession we showed our efficiency.
The first goal came at 28 minutes. Ashley Cole played a ball to Lamps who shot hard. Kirkland made a save but only to Malouda to clip the ball into the empty net.
The second goal came with 2 minutes of the second half gave an amazing 60 yard pass down the right channel for Anelka to finish off with a lovely ball on the far corner. Worth watching it again...
After we go up 2 goals we usually relax and that’s what happened. A few minutes later Malouda controlled a clearance from Cech and crossed to Drogba who kicked the ball to Anelka who jumped between two defenders and headed into the goal. He was offside, but the ref didn’t see it, and me neither at first to be completely honest.

And now for the 4th goal. Drogba walked easily past the Wigan defence and gave an easy easy ball for Kalou to finish who kicked the ball into a empty net. That was just about time for the crowd to start singing “ Boring, boring Chelsea”, like people used to sing in Mourinho’s time when Chelsea used to score a goal and park the bus as he would say. I think it has changed a bit now...
And here goes Kalou again, who got substituted in at 67 minutes. Drogba and Cole exchanged passes and Drog crossed for Kalou to head in the 5th goal.
I though it was over by now, but I guess it was time for Yossy to score his first Chelsea goal. Ferreira delivered a cross to Benayoun to sweep in from 10 yards.
What a game again ! Brilliant performance again for Drogba who got three assists and from Anelka, who after being banned for 18 games for France showed that he is still a top player that they will miss. Malouda carrying over the great form from last season. Kalou doing a great job from the bench and putting a good fight for a spot in the first team.
Congrats to our defence yesterday as well, who handled very well the first 30 minutes pressure from Wigan and gave us time to get into the game. Terry and Alex delivered some good blocks. Mikel and Essien did a great job in the midfield and linked up some important passes. Lampard as always was very solid.
Now its important to focus in keeping the good form for next weeks game against Stoke. We might have Ramires in the bench, which I’m excited to see !
Well, I guess Mr and Mrs Footy home is a happy home today, with and final result of 12 x 0 we’ll start the week with a big smile on our faces !
